Issue # 107 — Vol. 29 — 30/06/2025

This 107th issue of Insaniyat (1st quarter 2025) marks both the renewal and expansion of the journal Editorial Board, with the arrival of a number of colleagues with diverse disciplinary backgrounds from national and international institutions. This change reflects CRASC on going commitment to strengthen the Editorial Board with expertise in the humanities and social sciences. It also involves implementing new working methods while reaffirming and consolidating the journal trilingual aspect and its disciplinary openness.

The publication of this 107th issue is the perfect opportunity to extend my sincere and heartfelt thanks to the former members of the Editorial Board and the Scientific Committee. For many years, they worked with dedication and seriousness, so that our journal could achieve national and international recognition in the world of social sciences and humanities publications, as demonstrated by the growing number of readers and the quality of our contributors.

Since its foundation in 1997, Insaniyat has been committed to promoting original work on Algeria, encouraging a multidisciplinary dialogue and providing a space for doctoral students and young researchers from Algeria and abroad to present their works. Insaniyat has also reported on publications addressing Algeria, the Maghreb and the Mediterranean in general, under the sections: “Review of Books”, “Critical Notes”, “Journals Review”, “Interviews” and “Research Journey”. The new Editorial Board along with the community of academics and researchers are invited to enrich these various sections, which are essential to the life and continuity of a scientific journal.

I have no doubt that the new members, whose works take a multidisciplinary approach, will enhance Insaniyat scientific reputation by continuing the efforts of their predecessors to disseminate original research based on reflection, theoretical approaches and fieldwork. The quality of each issue and each article hinges on their efforts, not forgetting the invaluable contribution of the external experts, to whom I express my sincere gratitude.

It is in this spirit that the new Editorial Board, under the direction of Belkacem Benzenine and Amar Mohand-Amer, has started its prospection for the coming years, discussing several projects for issues on themes new to our journal. I will just give an overview of these projects: “Illegalisms and Arrangements in the Arab world”, “Commemorating, Celebrating and Maintaining Collective Memory”, “The Algeria of Anthropologists:
A Decolonial Programme” and “Academic Mobility of Students from Sub-Saharan Africa”.

Therefore, the new Editorial Board, working collectively, dynamically, collaboratively and rigorously, is looking ahead to original themes, or at least those that will spark renewed reflection, based on work in progress.

In conclusion, I would like to wish the new Editorial Board every success and assure them of my full support in their mission. This support also extends from the Directorate-General for Scientific Research and Technological Development (DGRSDT), which places particular importance on the quality of publications and the reputation of journals in its scientific strategy.
